When you love someone and they die, its initially difficulty to feel anything but numbness. The music world and fans all over the world were shocked at the untimely death of Whitney Houston. None more than Brandy and Monica, young proteges of Whitney’s. In fact, just the day before, Whitney made an appearance at the rehearsal where the two of them were preparing for last night’s gala. Monica walked to the edge of the stage while Whitney cupped her face and gave her encouragement.
The New York Times reports that “Monica and Brandy, heavily influenced by Houston, were supposed to perform together at the event, but Davis said the singers were “too heart-stricken.”
At the gala, Clive Davis spoke of their presence.
“I know the role Whitney played in their lives. Thank you for staying,” he said.
